From Kenya to Nepal and Pakistan, GWLN’s graduates are making huge inroads to improve gender equality in some of the most remote areas of the world. Lucky Chhetri (2007) heads a trekking business and social enterprise to prepare Nepalese women to succeed in the traditionally male-dominated industry of adventure tourism. In rural Kenya, Sabore Ole Oyie (2010) built two wells that provide clean water to nearly 9,000 people, enabling more girls to attend school. Quratul Ain Bakhteari (2012), a Nobel Peace Prize nominee, created a midwivery training program that has lowered maternal mortality rates and saved babies in the poorest province of Pakistan.
